The Ledger of Death

A work of Academic Fiction

I could never had anticipated how death would be, nor how much accounting would have influenced it…

The Ledger of Death is a unique work of research exploring the blurring realms of accounting and death. One fateful October night, a restless soul realises that it is not sleep that escapes them, but life itself. Confronted by death, our hapless soul guided by Charon, begins to learn the value and influence of accounting in influencing, recording, and valuing both life and death.

The work is self-published via the Accounting for Humanity Substack and combines academic research with narrative fiction to create a body of research that allows the reader to become immersed in the journey of discovery and thought that accompanies academic research.

Published in parts, the work will also introduce the reader to the timeline of research i.e., we accompany our researcher on the journey, rather than waiting for them at the end. You can follow the work here and, in the spirit of peer-review, feel free to leave (professional/constructive please) comments/feedback.
